Institute of process engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences is institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, it conduct common basic research and technology development of chemical, metallurgical and other process industries, it was established in 1958, its predecessor is chemical metallurgy institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences. A great deal of fruitful basic research and application technology development has been carried out in the fields of metallurgy, chemica industry, energy, chemical, biochemical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, resource /environment engineering and so on. The institute focus on these industries, it is common theory, key technology and system integration of process engineering. As for major demand of process industrial transformation and upgrading, product structure adjustment and strategic emerging industrial development, a number of major breakthroughs have been made by the institute in the field of meso-scale theory and major application of process science, efficient utilization of mineral resources, key technologies and equipment of biopharmaceutical process, etc. many utilization technologies have been formed in the field of ionic liquids and green engineering, functional materials, chemical and engineering applications, biomass refining process, strengthening and integration technology, green reaction and separation engineering, coal conversion and oil and gas synthesis. The institute now has Zhongguancun headquarters, Langfang branch and Zhengzhou branch, besides, the institute has 3 national key laboratories, 3 provincial and ministerial laboratories, and 6 research centers, there are 1500 employees and graduate students.
